NYPD “Outside agitators” at Columbia are “trying to hijack a peaceful protest,” New York Police Department Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry said Friday night.
“What may have started as a group of Columbia students wanting to express their constitutional right to protest has drawn crowds of outside agitators who are trying to hijack a peaceful protest and turn it something far more sinister,” Daughtry posted on X .
According to the commissioner, the has seen the same groups of “professional protestors” demonstrating on Columbia’s campus every time, noting that the people arrested would be at various demonstrations irrespective of the message. Daughtry stated that they would soon intervene and address the issues as soon as the university’s president allows them to proceed.
